Racine County Foreclosure Homes

At the time of writing there are at least new 232 foreclosures listed, which is considered the leading statistical expertise on Racine County foreclosure homes; this is second behind Milwaukee (whose lead is huge in comparison).

Racine County is now unique, it is suffering from the impact of the global economic crisis in a similar way to so many surrounding counties, although it does pail into almost insignificance in compared to Milwaukee. The reasons for the foreclosure crisis that are now affecting the world are not a mystery.

Adjustable rate and sub-prime mortgage resets which have driven up the average mortgage payment, a soft housing market and the subsequent collapse of the sub-prime mortgage market have all contributed to the number of Racine County foreclosure houses.

Strangely, the flood of foreclosure homes on the market in Racine has led to a difficulty for those in financial trouble to sell their home, as the availability of cheap housing become more accessible. Many people who would have sought to refinance their mortgage option have suffered from lenders tightening their standards and regulations, effectively eliminating refinancing options for those suffering from the credit squeeze.

Although it sounds a little trite in the current climate, foreclosures in Racine are not all bad news, with every crisis there are mostly losers, but there are also a small number of winners. Investors and real estate professionals are having a field day in Racine, cashing in on the foreclosure housing market, there continue to be some winners.

Experts are predicting that the soaring numbers of foreclosures in Racine and across the state should have peaked by the middle of 2008, and they are not being proved entirely wrong as the numbers decrease of the last month or so.

Racine’s unemployment figures are the highest in the state at 9.4% compared to Beloit at 8.7% and Milwaukee at 7.6%, however there are 60 cities, towns and villages in the county and the bulk of this figure comes from Racine City. The reality shows a severe labour shortage in the county as people move away in search of better prospects and the hope of protecting their mortgages and investments.

The system has not given up hope on Racine and in an effort to reduce the number of foreclosures, an Economic Development Plan has been developed to try and create an entrepreneurial culture in Racine, to recognise the importance of technology and innovation in growing businesses. Also to develop improving education and workforce training opportunities has been recognised as the key to improving the desperate economic situation in the county. Hopefully fostering a spirit of co-operation between eastern and western Racine will lead to a better future.
